Itaewon: the default base
Itaewon holds the Seoul Central Mosque and the densest run of halal dining in Korea, with most Muslim-friendly stays a short walk away. For a first trip, or any trip where prayer and food access matter most, this is the simplest place to base yourself — and the metro puts the rest of the city within easy reach.
Beyond Itaewon
Myeongdong and Hongdae suit travellers prioritising shopping or a livelier, younger scene — both now have Muslim-friendly options, though halal food is less dense than in Itaewon. Gangnam is business-oriented; there, plan prayer and meals around your hotel’s own facilities rather than a nearby mosque.
